Roger Owen
Founder, CEO & Fundraising
Roger’s drive to start the charity stemmed from a successful climb to Everest’s summit in May 2012. Whilst on the mountain he got to know the Sherpa team who showed him one of the schools in their hill village of Pangboche, just 8 miles from Everest. It was in a pitiful state. No books, teaching materials, or anything inspiring to young minds. Along with Nadine and Hazel, they raised funds for a flat playground on the steep mountainside and collected 3,000 children’s books that they took by yak to the school.

So was born Supporting Nepal’s Children. With their robust business backgrounds, the Founders made sure this charity was set up as a small start-up from the outset, with minimal costs and some 93% of funds raised going direct to the cause. Roger’s management experience in Oil, Telecoms and Finance sectors have added to the team’s ability to retain this balance as the operation has grown.
